Have you ever wondered why God “boasted” about King David as being “a man after His own heart” despite David’s flaws and the atrocities he committed?

“I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will” (Act  13:22).

I propose to you that the secret is found in the manner in which David sought God and repented after every atrocity.

What is Repentance?

Repentance is the quick and timely asking of forgiveness from a contrite heart. Put another way, it’s saying “I’m sorry” quickly after you mess up. It means not being puffed up to admit that you were wrong. It also means not repeating the act.

If you’ll agree with me, we can say “sorry” or “forgive me” without really meaning it or can even say it with an attitude. Saying it with an attitude neutralizes the act of forgiveness.

Does that mean that I can intentionally sin (commit atrocities) and then go to God to ask for forgiveness and that it will be all right? No, God forbid. It is always better not to err than to ask for forgiveness.

God is looking for people who will chase after Him. Will you be the one?

The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart” (1 Sam. 13:14, NKJV)

Want God to put his mark of “a man (or woman) after My heart” on you, like Kind David, chase after Him and be swift to repent.
