It is the middle of the work week, it is Wednesday, and it is Hump Day, A day when we’re happy we made it through and are eagerly looking forward to the weekend.
Happy Hump Day. I hope your week has been very productive and rewarding. If not, do or change something to liven it up. Rest energizes and without it is un-productivity, boundless errors, and repetition. Take time to rest in during lunch . Doing good always livens the heart and mood. For example, take someone to lunch, buy coffee or tea for the person behind you in line at Starbucks or Peet’s, tell someone at work how much you appreciate them, help another to finish their project, bring a fruit or drink back from lunch for your boss.
Why Hump Day?
Hump Day has been known and called so since the 1950s, but was popularized by a Geico (an insurance company) commercial in 2013.
“Throughout the 20th century, Wednesday was especially referred to as hump day in an effort to liven up the drudgery of the workweek.”
Liven up your day snd self. It does get better. Read more about Hump Day here.
Do bosses / employers care about or love Hump Day?
I doubt if business owners and employers like or care about the Hump Day. For as far as they are concerned, everyone ought to work seven-days-a-week, 10-12 hours, no breaks, and minimal lunch. Because more money needs to be made to pay the employees and office expenses, including the bosses bonuses and vacations.
Thank goodness for labor laws without which bosses can get away with murder by breaking every rule while imposing theirs.
But employees are no robots. And everyone, including the boss, needs a break and rest from work; irrespective of how much they love that work. Else fatigue, stress, including the associating health issues will creep in (or set in after the creeping) and could render the workers and bosses incapable of being productive (remember economies of scale). Resist the taskmaster. Cultivate a healthy work-life balance.
Enjoy the Hump Day. The week is almost over, weekend is drawing nigh, and we repeat it next week and the next.
