Servant Heart

God grant us the grace to be like you serving one another from a kind and pure heart.

What does it mean?

A servant-heart is a leader who is:

  • Humble, not arrogant
  • Selfless, gives of him/herself sacrificially
  • Committed, to a cause and to others
  • Loyal
  • Dutifully diligent
  • Interested in the goodwill of others
  • Compassionate
  • Empathetic

Does having a servant heart (or being a servant-leader) causes us to lose ourselves? No, and certainly not. If anything, God refreshes those who refreshes others. God sees your heart and work though none does, and He will reward.

In a society where everyone is about self, having a servant heart becomes a struggle such that those who are gifted with such a heart become double-minded in exercising their gifts. And those who desire the servant-heart wonder if they’re doing the right thing. But, as lovers of Jesus the Christ, we remember that we are in this world, but not of the world.

Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool, let me be a fool unto Jesus.

Not every person is gifted with a servant heart, but it can be desired and cultivated. To cultivate a servant heart, start first by praying to God to fix your heart. Then intentionally seek opportunities to volunteer/serve others. The more of yourself that you give, the easier serving others become for you.

Like everything, God’s grace is sufficient and at work for me and you to enable us do that which we desire.

Happy Sunday 😍
